A bit of background on who we are and how to contact us ...

Ferdie Vosloo started farming in Rust de Winter Irrigation Scheme (north of Pretoria) in the beginning of 1965. He successfully practised intensive farming, producing tobacco, cotton, wheat, citrus, soya beans and seed maize over a period of 23 years up to 1988 when the Nationalist Government expropriated his farm for incorporation into Kwandebele Homeland (North Eastern Transvaal). After getting compensated at Government evaluation of his property, which was by far not adequate to replace it, he eventually stopped farming and moved down to Swellendam in the Western Cape.
aboutuspic02.jpg - 3kb Ferdie enrolled for and successfully passed the Estate Agent Board Examinations in June 1996 and started his own Estate Agency under the name of Fynbos Properties South Western Cape". In the beginning, he also listed residential properties, but soon realized that agricultural was where he felt at home and was soon specializing in Klein Karoo and game farm properties."
aboutuspic03.jpg - 3kb At the end of 1996 he came in contact with a Buyer who needed around 20,000 ha for a Wild life Reserve in the Western Cape - specifically under two and a half hours drive from Cape Town.

Within a period of around 10 months Ferdie managed to find and negotiate for 16 properties - all adjoining each other in the magnificent Klein Karoo area around the Bellair dam - totaling 26,823 ha. This area included the following farms: Hoogfontein  3,491 ha,  Kleinvlakte  3,854 ha,  Riethuis  1,200 ha, Kalkoenshoek  3,118 ha,  Tilney  2,850 ha,  Addersfontein 2,998 ha,  Quarryhoek 1,518 ha,  Ged van Addersfontein 1,198 ha,  Die Wilgers 120 ha,  Rietjiesbos 158 ha,  Rheeboksfontein 1,514 ha,  Gatskraal 270 ha,  Keeskraal 1,084 ha,  Boerboonfontein 1,100 ha,  Ratelfontein 3,600 ha,  Rheeboksland 1,182 ha and Ezelfontein 2,500 ha to another client near Laingsburg.
aboutuspic04.jpg - 3kb During the drought in the Western Cape (1999 to 2001) the demand for agricultural properties fell to a trickle with an abundance of possible Sellers - at times even below market value - but no Buyer interest at all. Eventually after the area received a more normal rainfall, the interest in farms and smallholdings seemed to be restored. Ferdie went to work as Agricultural Agent for the Seeff franchise" who had, at that time, just opened an office in Swellendam.

Ferdie was to begin on 2 January 2002 but with favourable circumstances he sold his first property on 26th December 2001 i.e. 5 days before he was to start working!

During a period of three an a half years, up to the end of June 2005, he negotiated and sold 23 properties with help from Above. These included the following: Hermitage 5 ha,  Thornlands 5 ha,  Bellair 21 ha, Bobbejaankrans 12,000 ha,  Keeskraal 2,600 ha,  Vredehoek 1,400 ha,  Middelplaas 2,100 ha,  Ratelfontein 3,800 ha,  Jakkalsfontein 3,200 ha,  Thornlands 74 ha,  Paardekloof 634 ha,  The Island 106 ha,  Mopama 24 ha,  Kadie 95 ha,  Nuwerus 624 ha,  Hooikraal 13 ha,  Grootkloof 106 ha,  Klipfontein 238 ha, Bosjemanspad 478 ha, Haasvlakte 11 ha, Thornlands 48 ha and Rheenen 268 ha.

At the beginning of 2003 he received the Seeff Chairmans Award for Best Agricultural Agent with outstanding sales figures during 2002. The Award was again awarded to him at the beginning of 2004 for good sales figures during the year 2003.
aboutuspic05.jpg - 3kb During 2005 Ferdie decided to go on his own and is now operating under his original name of Fynbos Properties South Western Cape operating from 3 Kerk Street in Swellendam.

Ferdie has broadened his scope of sales to include Residential, Commercial and Industrial properties - but the main area of operation shall remain Agricultural because of a love of farming and feeling of where his basic roots lie.
